Church Blessing at Mountaintop Outstation

Hundreds of people from all over the Southern Highlands (and even a group of Huli dancers from Margarima) gathered at a picturesque mountaintop outstation of Saint Mary Parish, Kagua located in the Southern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea for the blessing of Sacred Heart church.

Porondaka Youth Alive and Well

It was worth it!  A three and a half hour drive, an hour walk and a half hour march to the lively beat of the kundu drum to arrive at Porondaka, a remote village of St Joseph Parish, Margarima.

The Face of Mercy

The face of God's mercy was revealed to inmates at Bui Yebi Prison at a recent Holy Mass and celebration.  The Missionary of Charities and Sr Paulus Maria, FSDP have a weekly ministry at the prision.

First Jubilee Pilgrims arrive at Mendi

After a grueling three-day walk, over 150 pilgrims from Saint Clare of Assisi Parish in Ialibu arrived in Mendi.  They were the first Jubliee of Mercy pilgrims to arrive at the Holy Door that was blessed at Mary, Mother of the Divine Shepherd Cathedral.

Africa Meets PNG

Father Alberto Dawas is a diocesan priest from the Diocese of Mbulu in Tanzania.  He has come to the Diocese of Mendi as a missionary.  Recently he was officially installed by Bishop Don as parish priest of Saint Joseph Church, Ekari in the Upper Mendi area of the Southern Highlands Province.

Joining the festive celebration were Fr Jonathan Williams, OFM Cap., superior of the Capuchins in Papua New Guinea; Fr Wolfgang Pisa, OFM Cap., provincial minister of the Capuchins in Tanzania and hundreds of parishioners from Saint Joseph

Diocese Unveils Jubilee Logo

The Diocese of Mendi has unveiled the logo that will be used for the Golden Jubilee of the diocese which was launched (a few days early) on 4 November 2015.  The Diocese of Mendi was established 15 November 1966 - together with several other Papua New Guinea dioceses.

Divine Mercy Shrine Dedicated by Nuncio

In time for the upcoming Jubilee of Mercy, the Shrine of Divine Mercy, was recently dedicated by the Apostolic Nuncio to Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands, Archbishop Michael Banach in the Archdiocese of Mount Hagen.
